Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)
Part of the IIT group of institutes launched in India by the government to promote quality engineering education in the country, IIT Delhi was formed in the year 1961. It has a 325 acre campus in the posh Hauz Khas Village area. The institute offers 4 year bachelors in Technology, Bachelor cum Masters Dual Degree and an integrated Master of Technology course. Besides it also offers Master of Science, Master of Science (Research), Master in Industrial Design and Master of Business Administration. There are 9 fields in which students can pursue Bachelor of Technology. The admission to the undergraduate courses is done through AIJEE and for post graduate courses through GATE, which are both national level tests. The IITD also offers research programmes for its students.
Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology
Formerly Delhi Institute of Technology, NSIT was formed in the year 1983. It is one of the prestigious colleges for engineering in India and ranked 9th among all the engineering colleges in the country in a survey conducted in 2012 by the Times group. The admissions are based on JEE-Main examination which is conducted on national level. The institute has eight divisions which impart education in their respective fields to the undergraduate students. It offers four years Bachelor of Engineering course in six fields along with Master of Technology in three fields. It also offers PhD program for its students and has a School of Applied Sciences and Humanities besides four centers of excellence.
Delhi Technology University
Formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering, DTU was formed way back in the year 1941 when it was run as a polytechnic. The institute has a come a long way since, and now offers degrees in Bachelors of Engineering, bachelors of Technology, Master of Engineering, Master of Science and PhD. The institute offers engineering studies through 14 departments which impart strong scientific and technical logical knowledge. The admissions to the under graduate programmes are done through JEE Main examination which is held on a national level.
National Institute of Technology, Delhi
A relatively new institute, NIT Delhi is part of the newly formed NIT’s across the country and was formed in the year 2010. The campus is located in Dwarka and presently only offers undergraduate courses in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The institute provides well-furnished accommodation facilities to its outstation candidates. Its home away from home, with some of the hostels situated within the campus of the Institute while others are located at Narela, Delhi.
With its A-grade institutes and their sprawling campuses, Delhi attracts people and professionals from every nook and corner.
