At some point in your life, you’ve probably tried some sort of fad diet or trend that was popular for the moment and then you never heard anything else about it. Do you know why you never heard anything else about them? It’s because they didn’t work! There are diets out there that are so ridiculous it makes you wonder, “who’s more insane… the person who created the diet or the person who followed the diet?”
Both the creators of the crazy diets and the followers are equally ridiculous but when you’re on a journey to lose weight and very unhappy with what you see in the mirror, these diet fads and trends can be very blinding and misleading to make you think it can get you to your ideal size and weight but it can, in fact, be the very thing that causes you to gain more weight and take you further away from your goal.
But, to be fair, trying to find a diet that works best for you and your lifestyle is getting started on the right path.
The secret to weight loss truly does start in the kitchen. You can run, jump rope, do 10,000 sit-ups and push-ups but if you’re not eating a well-balanced meal, packed with nutrients and proteins your body needs, all your workouts will be pointless.
Your body needs fuel to burn calories and fat, and the only way your body will do that is if you fuel your body. The key thing is to make sure you’re fueling your body with the right foods… If you want to fuel your body with the number one diet in America, consider the Mediterranean diet.
The Mediterranean diet dates as far back as the early 1960s and it’s STILL improving people’s health to this day. So, you can rest assured in knowing that the Mediterranean isn’t just some fad or trend that’s here today and gone tomorrow… this diet is here to stay. There are of course other great diet plans that work but the Mediterranean diet is actually ranked #1 by CNN and US Health, for its numerous health benefits and its sustainability. Find the Right Diet For You… Just Stay Away From These!
The Tapeworm Diet
Yes, this diet is indeed as bad as it sounds. The tapeworm diet requires you to eat a tapeworm so that it can eat the food you eat, so your body doesn’t absorb the calories. The goal is for the worm to eat your food and exit through your bowels, ideally, but sometimes it doesn’t always work like that… Sometimes those worms like to stay in there and go to other parts of your body and wreak havoc there, which, according to Healthline, is the most dangerous part of the diet.
That can cause all kinds of problems too. From headaches and feeling weak to vomiting and diarrhea, this diet is terrible. It might sound good in theory because this parasite is eating their calories but that’s the thing people fail to realize about this diet… you’re purposely putting a parasite in your body to eat your calories. If you want the tapeworm to eat your calories, consider leaving the tapeworm out of your body and just eat foods that are lower in calories. People forget that’s an option as well.
The Cookie Diet
At first glance, this diet sounds like a dream diet, right? The idea of eating cookies and losing weight from it… who wouldn’t want to try it! With this diet, you’ll be eating two special, protein-packed cookies every two hours, leaving you eating 9 cookies in a day and you can eat one meal that’s only 500-700 calories… it kind of takes the fun out of eating cookies, doesn’t it?
But the reality of this diet is that it doesn’t teach or help you in making smarter food choices, it can be the very cause of an unhealthy relationship with food, and it’s unsustainable, meaning that the moment you stray away from this diet, you’re going to quickly gain back any weight you lost.
The Alkaline Diet
With the alkaline diet, you’re to avoid consuming acidic foods. In avoiding acidic foods, that means you’re staying away from almost every food you eat on a daily basis, right? That means you’re not eating:
- Dairy
- Meat
- Fish
- Eggs
And those are just a few foods that are acidic that people consume every day but this diet wants you to stay away from it. The idea of this diet is that by only consuming alkaline foods, fat and life-threatening diseases like cancer can’t live and thrive in an alkaline environment.
This claim sounds good but it’s not backed by science…
What people forget is that our bodies are wonderful machines and that they naturally regulate our pH levels. So, there’s no need to deprive yourself of the foods your body needs to properly function.
